Twitter is is trouble for not following the new IT Rules implemented by GOI from 25th May this year. Twitter is the only social media platform in India which has not yet implemented the guidelines suggested as per new IT rule. The immunity given by the Indian law to social media platform has removed due to non compliance. Now case can be registered against them for not following the compliances on offensive content on their platform.

Let me tell you that Ghaziabad police have registered an FIR against 9 people including Twitter India and 2 Congress leaders. The twitter is in trouble and FIR has been registered for giving communal colour in this case. It is alleged that Twitter did not take any action or remove the communal tweet despite the police clarify the matter completely. In this case Police has registered an FIR against Mohammad Zubair, Rana Ayyub, Salman Nizami, Maskoor Usmani, Shama Mohammad, Saba Naqvi, The Wire, Twitter Communication India Pvt Ltd and Twitter INC in the case.

What could be the consequence of not following new IT Rule by Twitter

All social media platforms are provided immunity under section 79 by the central government. As per this immunity, the social media platform is not responsible for the use of their platforms for any criminal activities. The company could not be made a party in such case. This protection was given to Twitter as well. To enjoy this immunity social media platforms ask to follow New IT Rules implemented by Government of India from 25th May 2021. Now twitter is in trouble due to non compliance of all IT rules.

Under the new IT rule, the government had asked social media companies to appoint a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) within a month to resolve user complaints. In the absence of appointment, the government had warned them of removing the protection under section 79. Most of social media platform in India has followed the New IT Rule and appointed the CCO. Only Twitter India has not followed all guidelines and lost the immunity under section 79. After this the first FIR has been lodged against Twitter on 15th June.

What is the compliance status as per new IT rules: Twitter is in Trouble

After initial rift with government Twitter India agreed to accept some of the new IT rules. Twitter has appointed an interim Chief Grievance Officer on Tuesday as per the new guidelines. Twitter will soon share its details with the central government about his CCO. Twitter has taken this step to appoint CCO only when the government gave the last chance to follow the guideline. But there are many rule still pending to follow and that’s why twitter is in trouble. Since twitter has not followed all rules, the government doesn’t want to offer any immunity unless they agree to follow all guidelines asked by ministry of information and technology.

Let me tell you that Twitter has its own version for not following the New IT Rules. When people approached them, the twitter clarifies its stand unofficially. They said that new IT rules will suppress the freedom of expression. The new rules will also violate the user privacy when platform will start reading users messages. It is also difficult for platform to read millions of messages and remove offensive content as per new law. Although government does not agree with twitter logic and they said new rules will not violate the user privacy. It mean twitter is in trouble unless they agree to new IT rules.

What is this case all about and why Ghaziabad police file an FIR against Twitter

The Ghaziabad Police of Uttar Pradesh had registered an FIR after a video of elderly man named Abdul Samad went viral. In this video, the victim was assaulted and molested by some people in Loni area of Ghaziabad district. This video purposely circulated on social media to give it a communal colour. The Ghaziabad Police file a case against 9 people who tried to promote this video on social media platform with wrong intention. Twitter is in trouble along with 9 more accused registered in this case.

Also Read: Trouble for Facebook again by US Federal Trade Commission

Let me tell you that local police found this video false and manipulated in its investigation. They said that the truth of the matter is different to what was presented in social media. As per police, the victim had given some talismans to the accused for better results in is life. But when accused did not get the results he carried out the incident and assaulted the victim. After this authorities reported the issue with twitter for corrective action. But Twitter India did not take any action and keep the content available on platform without tagging this as “manipulated media”. The police also said that the victim has not mentioned in his FIR that he is been forced to raise slogan “Jai Shri Ram. Victim has also not mentioned that his beard was cut forcefully during the incident.

Why this issue is getting hot in UP Politics: Twitter is in Trouble

Let me tell you that politics already started on this incident from both the side of power. UP Assembly election is on the corner and every political party want to use this incident for political milage. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said, “Such cruelty is shameful for both society and religion. He tweeted that I am not ready to believe that true devotees of Shri Ram can do this. Such cruelty is far from humanity and is shameful for both society and religion. Similarly other political parties in UP too using this incident.”

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded to Rahul Gandhi tweet and said, “The first lesson of Lord Shri Ram is to speak the truth, which you have never done in life. You should be ashamed that even after telling the truth by the police, you are engaged in spreading poison in the society.” Other BJP leaders also strongly reacted against Rahul Gandhi on his tweet. This political rift between political parties will continue till UP election. But twitter is in trouble due to different reason.

Online news channels and portals are scared with new IT rules. Government of India (GOI) is planning to enforce new IT rules for news channels broadcasting content on online platforms. These rules will also get imposed for news portal publishing online news content. Many media Experts believe that Modi government want a full control of news channels and online news platforms. They want all negative content criticise government to be removed from these platform.

Let me tell you that New IT rules was enforced in last month on 26th May 2021. Almost all social media platforms opposed the government move to implement new IT rules after that. Even the social media platform like twitter and WhatsApp challenged government order and ask them to relax the rules for them. Although, all social media companies agreed to the government order and implemented the new IT rules. They also assure the full compliance of new rules as per the requirements.

What NBA said to government order after new IT rules implementation

There is a lot of controversy arise after new IT rules implemented for Social Media, Online News Channels and Portals in India. After the introduction of the new rule, the National Broadcasters Association (NBA) had requested government to keep the digital platforms of TV channels and newspapers out from this new rules. Although government of India refused their request and asked them to comply with new IT Rules.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said to NBA that the new IT rule is not going to increase the existing burden. There is nothing wrong in bringing them under the ambit of the new rule as per GOI. Information Ministry also said that there will be no exception of these rules between various platform including online news channels and portals. New IT rule will be equally apply to all social media and news channels. They all have to implement the new rules without further delay.

What is the new IT rules and how this will restrict offensive content

As per new IT rules social media and online news platforms has to appoint a Chief Compliance Officer. He will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the new rules. They asl also advised to appointment of a nodal contact person for 24×7 coordination with law enforcement agencies. Apart from these wo another Resident Grievance Officer need to be appointed function function specified under the Grievance Redressal Mechanism. All these officials need to reside in Indian territory.

Social media and messaging platforms will have to enable identification of a person who has originally published the content. As per new rule offensive content related to national security, the sovereignty and integrity of India need to be removed on complaints. The platform also remove content related to rape, sexual material or child sexual abuse material. Online platform also need to provide the full information of source incase of complaints from the government agencies.

Why news publishers want immunity from online content distribution: Online News Channels

The news publishers want an immunity from this new IT rule. They believe that news organisation already governed by various rules laid by government and independent watchdogs in India. In this case they don’t want any action from government in case of offensive content published from them. They believe that government will try to restrict the content freedom and suppress the free press and voice of journalists. Although news publishers willing to cooperate with government agencies to identify the original source published offensive content. But they don’t want any law or compulsion in this regard.

Many publishers allege that new IT rules will restrict the freedom of press and independent public opinion. They also said that new IT Rule will allow government to silent the opposition voice oppose the government policies or functioning. Media experts also believe that new IT rule will empower government to remove all content opposing government. Government will also take action against people who will write or voice against government and its policy. Let me tell you that new rules will also suppress the independent voice speaking against the government on blogging sites or social media platforms.

Why OTT platform want to remove news channels from their platform: Online News Channels

As per sources most of OTT platforms want to remove news channels from their platform to skip the consequence of new IT rule. They believe that removing news channels will empower them to keep better control of content and platform management as per new rule. It is a fact that government want to regulate the news content public voice in they favour with these new rules. They are least interested in drama and filmy content available on various platform. They only want to restrict public and media opinion which oppose government and its polices.

The OTT platforms already started removing new channels from their platform. SonyLiv has already removed the news channels from their platform sometimes back. Other big platforms like Disney Hotstar and Zee5 are planning to remove news channels fom their platform to remove new It rules threat. Although this decision of OTT platforms will hit their revenue but still they don’t want to keep channels on their platform. Removing news channels from OTT platforms will also create negative impact because news channel will loose large audience watch new on tot platforms.

French Authority Fines Google for Selling Adx Data through online bidding platform. This Ads system benefit the large bidder where they get advantage in promoting product and services on google platform. The misuse of monopoly on internet of Google caught by the French Antitrust Watchdog Authority. After this French Authority impose the fine of €220 million (USD $268 million) on google for misusing monopoly in advertising space.

Now the Google’s parent company Alphabet decided to change the setting of its online advertising service. Google has agreed to this in a deal with France Antitrust Watchdog Authority. The Google decision to change the setting for its Advertising platform will help small and medium advertisers. They will also participate fairly for their brand promotion on the google ads platform. It is a good initiative and google will do thes echoes voluntarily.

How French Antitrust Watchdog identify this smart play of Google

A leading advertiser filed a complaint against google and allege that they misusing its dominance in internet advertising space. The French authority decided to investigate this matter for fair opportunity to small and medium advertisers. While investigation, the watchdog found that Google Advertising Managers Adx support larger publishers on its online advertising marketplace. This platform used by publishers to sell their online space for advertising in real time. Google sell this data to publishers on its Adx platform on realtime and make money.

The google Adx platform offer better interoperability features comparing to sell-side platforms (SSP) features. This unique feature offer advertisers to buy available space on realtime. Google make lots of money with this unique offering from large publishers. But platform minimise the possibility of fair opportunity to smaller and medium advertiser in this space. They don’t get advantage to play around on realtime and miss the possibility of doing business in online space. Thats why French Authority Fines Google to create equal opportunity for all in their country.

Many believe that publishers will get benefit with this order in long run: French Authority Fines Google

The French Authority Fines to Google for €220 million will actually benefit the publishers in long run. Let me tell you that many publishers use to dominate this space before the advent of the Internet. They use to maintain their clients and get fair advertisement opportunity to promote them. But they have suffered a lot when internet giants entered in this space with unique features and service. The large players like Google and Facebook got an advantage in this space.

But soon after building the monopoly in this space they came in the target of many publishers and advertisers. Publishers allege that Google and Facebook do not follow the fair practices while advertising ads on their platform. The platform came into scrutiny by the independent watchdogs and government authorities. Many countries investigated these platform and found the allegation correct. In such allegation French Authority Fines Google for Selling Adx Data. They also suggested them to make necessary change for fair business and opportunity on their platform.

Is this first time Google got penalised for misuse of customers data: French Authority Fines Google

This is not the first time when Google penalised for misusing its monopoly and customers daat for benefit. This year French Authority Fines Google for misuse of monopoly in internet advertising space. Last year Google was fines for €100 Million Euros (about 900 crore rupees) by CNIL, a French data privacy monitoring company. CNIL also fine €35 million Euros (about 314 crore rupees) to Amazon for using users cookies without informing them. The Europian union also imposed fine and questioned Google for misusing user data many times before.

Let me tell you that, these internet giants has all kind of user data who usages their platform. They are keep using those data and for their financial benefit. But sometimes they sell these data to other companies and governments for their usages is the matter of concern. In this case fair practice and fair opportunity get compromised. We suggest these giants to keep making profit but don’t kill the ecosystem for small and medium business. Also please don’t snatch the fair opportunity from common man by offering they daat to political organisation.

There are many companies apart from Mole Robotics working on this space and who will win the market need to be seen.

This is a great innovation and this will solve the problem of a home kitchen. This will also solve the problem of commercial kitchen and industrial food production. The flip part of this innovation is that it will make a large population jobless in the word. The food industry is none of the largest employer in the world. And This innovation will replace workers and chefs for this industry.

Hope the world will find a way of co-existence for machine, robot and human together. Machines should work for peoples convenience, not to replace them and make them jobless. Home designers and developers keep this point in their mind while building this Robotic Kitchen.

Trouble for Facebook Inc again by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). They have taken a major step based on a lawsuit filed against Facebook. Lawsuit wants Facebook to split its product and services and operate independently. The Trade Commission has accused Facebook of suppressing competition by taking advantage of its monopoly position in the social networking space.

Let me tell you that FTC and the group of provinces have focused their attention on the purchase of the company’s two social media acquisitions. Facebook acquired Instagram in 2012 for $ 715 million and two years later WhatsApp for $ 22 billion. The commission said in a complaint filed on Wednesday that Facebook wanted to remove the risk of competition by buying these two companies.

FTC suggested split of company is big Trouble for Facebook

The FTC has suggested splitting Facebook into two pieces. If this will happened then Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s business empire and monopoly in social media space will get over. The Instagram is a major contributor to the company’s revenue growth. And WhatsApp continuously growing and contributing to the company’s payment gateway and digital commerce space. With the split of these two platforms from Facebook will reduce their monopoly in social media space.

The company investors believe that split of Instagram and WhatsApp will hit the Facebook business model. Although the company is confident that this lawsuit may not be able to split these two platforms from Facebook. The split of social media giant need certain change in exiting law and parliament approval. And the possibility of these changes looks very low. But you never know the decision of government after the final verdict from the court of law.

Facebook shift their focus on digital shopping space in recent years

Let me tell you that Facebook users experience has reduced in recent years due to the high volume of Ads on the platform. Due to this company has shifted its focus and exploring revenue possibility in digital shopping space. Recently the company made the option of shopping through images and videos on Instagram. They also added WhatsApp option for customers to communicate in digital shopping space. With these three platforms together Facebook is unbeatable in social media and digital shopping space.

Instagram will continue to drive a large revenue for Facebook Inc

Let me tell you that Facebook Inc is getting revenue growth from Instagram in recent years. The company got $20 billion revenue in 2019 from the photo and video sharing app. This is 29% to total Ad revenue for Facebook Inc. As per research firm eMarketer Instagram’s sales revenue expected to be $ 28.1 billion in 2020. This will be equal to 37% of Facebook’s total ad revenue. This means Facebook will get a major share of growth in ad revenue from Instagram this year.

Facebook does not earn any revenue from WhatsApp at present. But the WhatsApp aggression in payment gateway and E-commerce will soon change the business revenue fro Facebook. The two billion-plus users will soon change the revenue stream for the company.
