Almost all car manufacturers had something that they needed to launch at Auto Expo 2020. It definitely looked like the Automobile industry which was in a slump till a while back is hopping back to normalcy. Maruti CEO a few days back had predicted that the Megacities will see a drop in sales.

But it is the Rural and smaller cities which will dominate sales. He also cited that India is not ready for the EV revolution. As India lacks the infrastructure for EV cars to run on Indian Roads. But however, Maruti did unveil an EV Concept that they would be launching somewhere in the future.
Electric Vehicle launches dominated much of Auto Expo 2020. There were 11 EVs that were launched. Out of which the Mahindra Group gave the most surprising Launch. They will be launching the eKUV at a price of Rs 8.25 Lakhs which will make it the cheapest SUV in the market.
They also claimed that the Electric Vehicle had run a total of 20 Crore Kilometres. There will be also another cheaper Electric Vehicle which will be in the offering is the Mahindra Atom but there was no hint of the Price.
Tata too had a surprise at the Auto Expo 2020. They unveiled a concept, Tata Sierra, among the other cars that they launched. It is not clear if they will actually relaunch the SUV that once was quite popularly seen on Indian Roads.
Chairman of Tata and Sons also announced that there will be 4 more car launches that will be added to the existing fleet that they had unveiled. Surprisingly even though Tata Motors had a lot to showcase. Their very own Jaguar and Land Rover brands seemed to be missing from the Auto Expo 2020

]]>It was Mercedes that launched the Mercedes Benz EQ in India. The first electric vehicle that it launched worldwide. Many details have not been revealed but the car will hit the roads in the month of April.

It will mainly be a transition of the existing fleet that they have. The transition will make the fossil fuel-driven vehicles Electric. ]]>A majority of the 2020 Car launches will be facelifts or the new decade versions of existing models. All popular Cars in the Mahindra stable are likely to get a 2020 upgrade. Mainly the Scorpio and the XUV 500, when it would be released, is still unknown. The Honda City which is the most popular Sedan in the Midsegment will also get a 2020 Avatar. There will be a few Vehicles by Kia and MG too who made their Debut in 2019. They will both be adding more to their current line up. MG is also going one step ahead and Launching an EV this month itself.
The Trend of Luxury SUV coupes is picking up quite steadily. Just last month it was the Porsche Cayenne Coupe that was launched in India. BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe have been in the market for long and have been performing relatively well too. So it is obvious that Audi does not want to be left out of the Race. The Audi Q8 will be launched within this month itself is what experts have predicted.
Tata had announced that it had developed the Ziptron Technology. Which is the Electric Vehicle technology that will power Electric Vehicles in the Tata Motors stable. It has already launched the Tigor EV and now will have the EV car built in the form of the Nexon. Which is the Budget SUV from the Tata Motors stable This car is expected to launch this month itself.
It has been quite a while that Tata has left a vacuum in the Midsegment Hatchback which sees Swift by Maruti and Grand i10s Nios by Hyundai. To counter that issue Tata is now introducing the Tata Altroz which will be launched at Rs 6 Rs 8 Lakh range. Currently, Tata does not offer any hatchback in this price range. Tata Altroz will be one of the 2020 Car Launches that will take place in January 2020.

]]>The next that they launched was the budget SUV cum hatchback which did not really fit in both categories but responded well with the Indian consumer was the S-Presso. It sold over 26,000 units in just three months since its launch. The next launch from Maruti that did really well was the XL 6. Which was targeted as a premium MUV, unlike the Ertiga which is the car that already exists in the MUV line up for Maruti. XL 6 was one of the Good Car Launches of 2019.

Tata Motors were a little stingy and had just one launch in the year 2019. They launched the Harrier. It was launched in January when the Slump of the Automobile Industry was at its peak. Harrier did not manage to sell very well but has been termed by experts as an excellent launch of 2019 comparing other car launches. It was however this segment that saw the most success. SUVs are globally becoming the most preferred Vehicle choice and India things were no different.
The Top SUV maker of India Mahindra too launched two new vehicles the Marazzo and the XUV 300. The Palazzo is more of a MUV which gives direct competition to Toyota Innova. But has not been able to make a dent on the Innova sales. Mahindra tried to do the same earlier with the Xylo but were not able to penetrate the Indian market as they expected. The XUV 300 was the budget SUV that Mahindra launched which was accepted well by the Indian Auto Buyer.
Hyundai did well when it launched the Grand i10 Nios. A car that gave Maruti Swift a run for its money. But what was the real game-changer for Hyundai was the Venue. Its budget SUV which was like the younger brother of the Creta car that was selling really well. But what really made the biggest sales for two new Auto Companies that made their debut in 2019 was the hottest car launches this year.
MG made its debut with the Hector which made heads turn. It sold out faster than expected and the company had to close bookings. The demand exceeded the supply that MG could produce. The same was the case with New entrant in the Indian Auto market Kia. Kia launched the Seltos which marked its debut into the Indian market. Again like the Hector Seltos sold more than what Kia expected that it would be able to sell. So 2019’s hottest car launches would easily be the Kia Seltos and the MG Hector.

]]>The Look of the car was launched just recently but no one has been able to get the glimpse of the interiors of the Car. The Hyundai Aura looks very much like the Hyundai i10 Nios with a Boot. There aren’t many changes to the external appearances of the car comparing the i10 Nios. It will offer the same amount of space that the i10 Nios currently offers. But being a sedan the Boot is what the Hyundai Aura will additionally offer.
The Hyundai Aura will come compliant with the new BS6 standards. What is on offer is a 1.2 litre Diesel variant and a Petrol Variant. The Petrol will come in two engine Configurations the first being the 1.2 Petrol Kappa Engine and the second the 1.0 turbo petrol unit. The later is currently also seen in the Hyundai Venue. But will not generate as much as power as the Venue. The Turbo Petrol unit will come only with a 5 speed Manual. Whereas the 1.2 Kappa and the 1.2 Diesel will come in both AMT and Manual Transmissions.

AS the official launch is still awaited there was no much information that was given about the Hyundai Aura. It looks like Hyundai is waiting for the New Year to make a New Launch. Currently, the compact sedan segment will see competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Tata Tigor. Will it be able to beat the line up in this space is what everyone in the Automotive circles is wondering. But that wonder will have to wait until the official launch of the vehicle in 2020.

Hyundai too launched its Budget SUV the Hyundai Venue which again was well received by the Indian market. Moreover, it was the Diwali festivities that gave the all attractive discounts that made the sales for the Auto Industry to rise up from a grave situation.
Whether it was just the festive season that brought back the auto industry back on to its feet or the sudden rise in the demand of SUVs is yet to be seen. But with sales seeing a slight increase compared to the early months of the year it looks like the Auto Mobile Industry will limp back to normalcy. Toyota too will enter into the budget SUV segment it will launch the Maruti Suzuki Breeza under their very own label. Maruti and Toyota have entered into an agreement of the Joint manufacturing of Vehicles.

]]>The Pioneers of SUV Coupes have to be given to BMW. They launched the worlds first SUV Coupe the BMW X6 almost a decade ago. Which found many takers not only in India but the world over. It was then the turn of the other German Counterpart Mercedes that launched the GLE Coupe as well as the GLC Coupe answer to BMWs X6 and X4. The trend quickly followed by Porsche now which has launched the Porsche Cayenne Coupe which is coming to India real soon. The Cayenne has been in India for a really long time and has also been a very big hit amongst the rich and famous.
From SUVs becoming a trend among the elite it is now the SUV Coupes that has become the star attraction for the la crème of society. The major difference between an SUV and its Coupe Version is the element of style. While the SUVs are large and have a fair amount of room at the back. The SUV Coupes are elegantly shaped at the back cutting out all the extra space that the SUV would have offered.

Coupes have never been a success in India. Given that Indian families are large and the Indian consumer has always wanted more room. But the combination of an SUV and the Coupe has become a hit among Indians. Although there is the Urus which can also be considered to be an SUV Coupe. It is the price tag that will deter even the rich and famous to spend that kind of money. Recently Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty both got themselves the Lamborghini SUV. With Porsche now on this new trend it is interesting to see who else will join this Bandwagon.
