Board Exams underway testing times for students and parents

Board Exams

Just recently the woes of parents and students just doubled. The ICSE Board has introduced 9th Standard too as Board Exams. Until now only 10th standard was a Board Exam but this year onwards it has changed. A lot has changed in the field of education in the past decade or two.

Parents are much more involved in the child’s education to the point that they take it upon themselves to even finish the child’s homework and school projects. So, it is pretty obvious at the time of the board exams the stress to is hared between the parents and the child.

HSC Board Exams scheduled to start for students increase tension

The HSC Board Exams will begin tomorrow and the SSC or 10th board exams will go live in the month of March. It is indeed a struggling time for students especially most of whom have been playing around for most of the year and now at the last moment trying to catch up.

This involves late-night studying and compromise on a factor that most take for granted sleep. The State government understanding the crux of the situation has started counselling helplines where students and parents can call up to know how to cope up with the stress.

It is on these helplines mostly parents that are calling in to find solutions to their Child’s anxiety surrounding the board exams. It has also been noticed that the majority of the calls that are coming to these counselling centres are from Urban areas and very few from rural areas.

Ascertaining the fact that the life in urban areas is far more complicated. The stress handling capabilities in the rural parts seems to be much more relaxed. May be due to lack of the external pressures that Urban students and parents face.

Tips for students to handle the stress

  • Ensure that you get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep every day. You don’t want to wake up early to revise and then end up sleeping in the examination Hall.
  • Get some physical activity during the day. Either go for a walk or go jogging. Your body needs to be in optimal performance mode even physically.
  • Maintain a healthy diet do not have food that you know may affect you in any way. Do not overeat. To overcome stress, it is common to indulge in overeating. Just eat a regular meal at the designated time.
  • Spend time in revising what you have already studied rather than studying something that you have never read or studied before.
  • Try meditation for at least half an hour on the day of the exam. It will help relax you both mentally and physically. If not familiar with meditation just sit in a room and try not to think anything for a while this too can calm the nervous mind.
