What makes Delhi Most Polluted capital in the world as per report published by IQ Air. The list has 22 Indian cities in top 30 most polluted cities in the world. The air quality is at the deadly level in Delhi and this get worst in winter every year. Why NGT and other institutions working on pollution are not able to find any permanent solution for this problem.

The Swiss organisation IQ Air has published list, ‘World Air Quality Report 2020’ on Tuesday. This report has serious question on government effort to control pollution in National Capital Region (NCR). Although report also mention that the Air Quality of Delhi is slightly improved comparing 2019. But this is not significant and more effort needed to improve the air quality further for people living in Delhi Region. 

Delhi is 10th most polluted city in the work but hold the 1st position in most polluted capital

Delhi stands at the 10th position as per report for most polluted cities in the world. But for any capital of country, Delhi stands at 1st position as per report in pollution index. The reports also included 22 other Indian cities in the list which has high level of pollution. This is alarming for the pollution control board of India and questioning their effort to control pollution.

Apart from Xinjiang from China Indian cities hold 9 consecutive position for most polluted city in the world. Apart from Delhi 21 other cities in the list including Ghaziabad, Bulandshahar, Bisarkh Jalalpur, Noida, Greater Noida, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Agra and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, Faridabad, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bandhwadi, Gurgaon in Haryana. , Yamunanagar, Rohtak and Dharuhera and Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

According to the report Xinjiang from China is the most polluted city in the world. But after this 9 following cities are from the India in top 10 most polluted cities in the world. Ghaziabad ranks second in the list as most polluted cities in the world. After that the Bulandshahar, Bisarkh Jalalpur, Noida, Greater Noida, Kanpur, Lucknow and Bhiwadi comes. The pollution levels in these cities have been measured on the basis of PM 2.5.

Lockdown has helped in controlling pollution level but not enough after unlocking the cities

The report also mentioned the effects of the Covid-19 lockdown has changed in PM2.5 pollutants worldwide. But the main factors of pollution in India are transportation, burning fuel for cooking, power generation. Industrial use, manufacturing work, burning of waste and burning of stubble and contribution to the pollution leve in these cities. More work needs in these sectors to control pollution further because Delhi Most Polluted Capital in the world.

The transport sector is the largest source of PM2.5 pollutants in Indian cities. According to a media report the PM2.5 data from 106 countries in the world measured for this report. The pollution control for most of the sources are monitored by the government agencies in India. But they are not doing their job efficiently and that why the pollution level in these cities are very high.

NGOs working for pollution control already raised flag and suggested the corrective majors: Delhi Most Polluted Capital

Let me tell you that Jharia of Jharkhand was most polluted city in India as per a report of Greenpeace India last year. Greenpeace is an organisation working for the environment control in India. Surprisingly Most of cities in the list from North Indian and non of the city mentioned from other region in top 30 polluted city. I think pollution control department in norther region learn from other states to control pollution.

The NGOs working in the field of pollution control already raising flag time to time for pollution level in different cities. I think government has to work with them and find a permanent solution of this problem. The Babus doesn’t seems to ve very interested to do their job in others states on Indian to control pollution. I think government has to push them to perform their job more efficiently.
