26 July Mumbai Disaster never seen before in the history of Mumbai. It’s the 14th anniversary of the worst natural disaster in the history of Mumbai city. It was exactly on this day 14 years back in 2005 that Mumbai saw 99.5 com of rainfall within 24 hours. Mumbai must have seen more rainfall than what was seen on 26 July Mumbai Disaster but the combination of rainfall and High Tide made the city submerge in water. Thousands of lives were lost. Many more houses were destroyed. Cars were abandoned the aftermath of the incident left thousands of people in a lurch after such a godforsaken incident. The city was literally brought down to its knees.

Mumbai Flood was made the city standstill for days

It was majorly in the afternoon of 26 July 2005 that the downpour was fierce. It was raining as if someone had unleashed some sort of fury in the Rain. People were left stranded from their commute to home from work. Roads were choc a bloc No Vehicles were able to move many of them were submerged in the excessive flooding. People had no option but to walk back home. Leaving their cars on the street. Since Public Transport had also collapsed there was no option for anyone. All one could do is walk back home that too in knee-deep or waist-deep waters. 26 July Mumbai Disaster still scare people of Mumbai.

The icing on the cake or rather to make matters worse there was a total shut down of Power in the city of Mumbai on 26/07. Telecommunications was also not functioning. So, one was confused to understand where their loved ones were. Will they return home? Are they Safe were the questions on everyone’s mind. Even Landline Phones were not working on the unfateful day of 26 July Mumbai Disaster.

For months after this natural calamity, it took quite an effort for people to return to their natural lives. People who had lost their homes and their belongings were the worst affected. People did a lot to walk back to normalcy. Months after the incident Car service stations had a long waiting list to repair cars. As even cars that were parked in certain parts of the city got so flooded that the interiors and Engines were completely destroyed. The recent rains have also been fierce this season but luck has it that Mumbai has not seen a repeat of such a day.
