Organ Donation occurs mostly when a person has died due to Brain Damage. It is mostly during this time that all other organs are intact and in good condition for someone else could use. It can be done by people who are alive as well. A person who is alive can donate his kidney, part of his Liver, part of his Pancreas, part of his lungs or part of his intestines.
The most common transplantations are when a person dies is the Kidney, Heart, Liver, Lungs, bones, Bone Marrow, Skin or Corneas. This mostly occurs when a person is declared brain dead. There was a law that was passed in 1994 promoting Organ Donation and curbing malpractices in the trade as well. Individuals must partake in Organ Donation as it can save a life.
