Vegan the new trend pushing sports stars to become vegetarian. It has been quite a while since the Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli has switched to become a Vegan. Sunil Chhetri too who leads the Indian Football team has also turned into veganism.

The trend is catching up. But experts warn that going Vegan for sports personalities have adverse effects. The right amount of supplements like Vitamin D12 and D3 as well as Omega 3 fatty acids. Which all come from Animal meat by nature. Vegan diets are more of a moral choice rather than a performance-enhancing one.

Venus Williams had turned Vegan but admitted that its tough to be vegetarian. After a tough workout, she was not able to get the amount of nutrition needed to a sportsperson. Animal Fats have loads of proteins that required for the sportsperson’s body.

As there is a lot of physical stress that the body endures when one indulges in sports activities. Plant-based proteins do not supply the body with adequate protein. The amount of proteins required by these sports personalities can be with animal fat. So, going Vegan the new trend will not enhance the performance of Sports personalities.

Sports personalities across the Globe have turned Vegan

Vegan the new trend too has its forms. While people thought that Vegans only consume vegetables and avoid Animal products. This includes dairy products and eggs. But there are those vegan called Lacto who consume dairy products and Vegetables. But avoid all other forms of animal products like eggs. Then there are Ovo Vegans that consume eggs but avoid Diary products altogether.

Many mainstream sports personalities have gone vegan. After this, they claimed to be more Healthy. Lewis Hamilton the F1 Champion is now a complete Vegan. So is Serena Williams and Lionel Messi who are icons in tennis and footballer in the list.

Since Veganism is a new concept long term effects will know only after some time. The Sportspeople who were Vegetarians turned to meat for the necessary nutrition. So is Veganism a trend or is it a healthier option for Sports personalities?
