After the extensive study, the scientists have found the reason. Our body works majorly on glucose which is just a cube of sugar. When we fast for a longer time this source of energy becomes unavailable. But our body needs energy from somewhere, so it goes to the fats and creates the fatty acids. These fatty acids produce the molecules called ketones. These ketones become the new source of energy and our body runs on it.

Alternate days fasting is a more effective technique: Intermittent Fasting

The scientists call this process as a flipping the metabolic switch. This switch can happen after a certain period of time fasting. This switch generally occurs after 8-12 hours of fasting. It can vary according to the fasting techniques.

Intermittent fasting can be done in two ways. The hour based fasting and alternate days fasting. In hours based fasting you fast for a specific period of time and of the day and later you can eat anything you want. In alternate day fasting, you fast for the complete day. Among the two, later is the most beneficial and effective.

Though it has good health benefits, it should be followed after the advice of a physician. The capacity of fasting can vary from person to person.
