Why keep kids away from mobile phone for a better upbringing. We carry phones wherever we go; from Morning walk to the office. Then from the bathroom to the Bed…we carry it wherever we go. It is like our new portable body part. Though there are countless advantages and reliability, it has also bad effects on health.

Mobile phones are more dangerous for kids. The research has shown that young people who spend seven hours or more a day on screens are more than twice as likely to be diagnosed with depression or anxiety as those who use a screen for an hour a day.

Kids between 2-7 years of age spend more than 7 hours on mobile phone daily

2016 National Survey of Children Health collected the data from more than 40,000 kids ages 2 to 17. While spending seven or more hours a day on screens was not typical among the younger kids in the study. Around 20% of 14-17-year-olds spent this amount of time on screens each day.

Spending more time on screen leads to depression, anxiety, and high stress. also, the kids who use the phone more often are more easily distracted, less emotionally stable, and had more problems finishing the tasks and making new friends compared to those who spent just an hour a day on the screens.

This has contributed to growing concerns among some parents, teachers, guidance counsellors, and doctors that too much time spent on screens especially on smartphones. Increased use of Social media and phones have also been the main reason for suicides and depression.

The scientists have currently recommended that the kids of the age 2 to 5 should use screens for no more than one hour a day. That one hour includes all the time related to all the mobile phone. The scientist is further studying to find exact time restriction to be imposed on the Kids for using the Phone. The researchers have signalled the parents to be careful about  Kids’ mobile phone use.
