Poland’s Robert Lewandowski voted as FIFA best footballer this year. He broke the dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in FIFA this year. Lewandowski won several international and domestic trophies for his club Bayern Munich. He scored 55 goals in this season and wrote a history after becoming the FIFA player of the year. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were also nominated along with Robert Lewandowski in the final list. But they are not able to make as an award winner this year. The Robert Lewandowski become FIFA footballer of the year leaving behind Messi and Ronaldo. FIFA organised the virtual award ceremony this year in Zurich due to Covid-19. After the winners, announcement FIFA president Gianni Infantino decided to handover award personally to Robert Lewandowski in Munich. Robert Lewandowski is the second player in last 12 years who received FIFA player of the year award apart from Messi and Ronaldo. Earlier to this Croatia’s Luka Moderich won the player of the year award in 2018.

Robert Lewandowski born on 21st August in Warsaw and grew up in Leszno, Warsaw West County. He took his first steps in football as an unregistered player for the local club, Partyzant Leszno. He joined MKS Varsovia Warsaw In 1997 where he played as a teen played for seven years. Later he become a professional footballer and currently playing as striker for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. He is also the captain of the Poland national team. Robert Lewandowski is renowned for his positioning, technique and finishing the game. He is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world and he is one of the best strikers in Bundesliga history. He has scored over 500 senior career goals for club and country.

Robert Lewandowski is the first player from any Spanish club to who won the award since 2008. Ronaldo won the award as player of the year in 2008 while playing for Manchester United. No player from Bayern Munich has ever won this award since its inception in 1991. Frank Ribéry finished third in 2013 and Manuel Nouer in 2014. Apart from Lewandowski, Lucy Bronze won the FIFA player of the year award in the female section. Lucia Roberta Tough Bronze is an English footballer who plays as a right-back for English club Manchester City and the England national team. She has previously played for SunderlandEvertonLiverpool, and Olympique Lyonnais. Lucy also played for North Carolina Tar Heels at the college level in the United States. She won three UEFA Women’s Champions League titles with Olympique Lyonnais as well as three FA Women’s Super League titles with Liverpool and Manchester City.
