He has been the villain in the Hindi cinema for 3 decades. His most revered role as a villain was in the movie Mr. India as Mogambo.

But he was stereotyped to doing villainous roles for which he was fondly remembered.

Amrish Puri had two brothers who were already part of Bollywood

Very few people know this but Amrish Puri had two siblings that were already villains in Bollywood. His Brothers Madan Puri and Chaman Puri were established actors in Hindi Cinema back in the 60s and 70s. Amrish Puri failed his first screen test and took up a job in the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation under the Ministry of Labour also known as ESIC. But he did not quit acting he joined Prithvi Theatre and acted in many plays.

His acting career progressed from the stage to the cinema. He started off as the main henchman for villains in Hindi Movies and then went onto become the main villain and ruled that space for more than 30 Years. Steven Spielberg has even said this in many interviews, “Amrish is my favourite villain. The best the world has ever produced and ever will!”.
